Tues., Jan. 27th NEXT STEPS:
Hello all!
1 - I had a wonderful phone consult with my oncologist, Dr. M. Souied, Tuesday evening;
2 - another Dr. on my medical team, Dr. Mir, Assistant Professor Radiation Oncology, has
put in the request for me to have an MRI within 4 weeks;
3 - I’m also on a 3-week reduction of dexamethasone steroids from 4mg/day down to 0 by Feb 16th.
Whooooo Hooo
No more ‘roids!! Post-surgery was 16mg/day and THAT was an adventure as an understatement;
4 - Dr. Souied stated that what we should do is to start me on chemotherapy in the next month: (after a month break)
a) I will have four weeks of a break, so I'm okay to break a month to recover from this first round of treatments;
(sidebar conversation: no alarms and no scheduled meds and I can sleep in!)
b) radiation therapy is not needed again;
c) they’ll give me a requisition to do more bloodwork;
d) I will have another phone consult with Dr. Souied in about 4 weeks, which was my preference to just use phone since then I don’t have to go out to an appointment, etc etc etc and I’m pleased with that choice. He does not feel he needs to wait for the MRI to begin the 2nd round of chemotherapy;
e) For the 2nd round of chemotherapy, I will receive a high dose of chemotherapy each day for 5 days and then I shall take a break for 25 days.
f) I thanked Dr. Souied and expressed how I have complete trust in his care for me. He replied, “Oh, thank you so much, and and then we'll talk to you next month, and everything's good.” (Stacy had recorded our phone call then his IPHONE did a transcription, which was cool!)
